xhtml as a layout language?

For those who have followed the SVG lists, there is a recurrent thread on
there,
where anyone who defends flash at the expense of SVG gets a serious bashing.
I'm beginning to wonder if XSL-FO, HTML+CSS are next.

I'm reminded of a twist on a UK advertisement for the mini.
