A good way to do this is to write another stylesheet module that imports
your existing module. In the new module do
<xsl:template match="*">
<xsl:choose>
<xsl:when test="@attribute">
<tag><xsl:apply-imports/></tag>
</xsl:when>
<xsl:otherwise>
<xsl:apply-imports/>
</xsl:otherwise>
</xsl:choose>
</xsl:template>
