Hi Michael,
This behavior is definitely unintentional. Installing MSXML4 (or
Windows Installer 2, if that's what is causing this) should have
absolutely no impact on Office 2000. We are investigating to see what
is causing this and what we can do to fix it. Sorry about the problem.
