why the // ? you are putting a lot of faith in your xsl engine's ability
to optimise that away. A naive, or even not so naive implementation of
that will search the entire document. And you only want to find one
node to put in the header.

that // isn't doing anything (starting a match with // affects the
default priority but nothing else, it doesn't alter the matched nodes)
