I would agree. The 'classic' is really a bit 'Zen' until you've thought
about it three times.

The 'construct-by-hand' method not only works in a more obvious way,
most importantly it illustrates several useful constructs in a way that
is easily re-usable. When the coder wants to proceed and develop on it
for their own peculiar task, this eg is more modular.
