What I usually do in cases like this is check what games use the table and
how. From your description, updating the docs seems reasonable.
As for having both multiplicative and additive effects, I have made several
table pairs like that. See the occupant_add_ and occupant_multiply_ tables.
It all depends on whether you need either or both in a specific game.
