Using GDB to debug Xconq

The last few times that I've tried to use GDB to debug Xconq, I've
received the following error:
Starting program: /usr/local/bin/xconq
Couldn't get registers: Operation not permitted.
This has had the unfortunate result that I have been unable to determine
why I have had a lot of seemingly-random segfaults lately.
