It seems to me that the bug appears when an advanced unit with a reach
extending beyond the edge of the map is selected (e.g. prior to issuing
a build task) or is attacked. Although I don't see combat triggering
the bug in combat model 1 games like 3rd-age.g (although selecting
triggers the bug regardless of combat model).
