This test has FIXME's in it, presumably because at the time it was
written the pmaps were broken in the translator. As of my checkin last
night, pmaps should be in a better state.

I've seen this too, but I'm not sure why it's happening. If I run the
test manually, it's fine. It may just be my limited skills in 'expect'
hacking - I invite anyone else to please take a look...
