   I've done this.  I'm a bit concerned since textutils has not been
   updated since January 1997.

I think there have been test releases since then, however:

melange:/com/share/ftp/gnu$ ls -l textutils-1.22f.tar.gz 
-rw-r--r--   1 meyering user      1112880 Jul 26 00:57 textutils-1.22f.tar.gz
melange:/com/share/ftp/gnu$
