Back on 2 Jun 1998, Gord submitted some patches to libc. Ulrich replied:

I wanted to let folks know that there's a patch to CVS that changes
this behavior. Check out:
http://www.cyclic.com/cvs/unoff-diffname2.txt
I think that will give you the full filenames that you're looking for.
