I'm saying you *don't* need to backport anything to make the ABI
"complete". The 2.17-based version simply doesn't include the post-2.17
symbols in GLIBC_2.18, while including all the other symbols in that
version.

No symbols had new versions added (for powerpc) because of behavioural
differences between 2.17 and 2.19. Thus, any issues relating to such
differences are independent of what symbol versions are used.
