Kenneth,

Welcome to the community! I suggest sending your email to
libc-help@sourceware.org where we can talk about projects.

You can start by looking here at the "Project TODO":
http://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/#ProjectTODO

Don't feel intimidated, even the small projects have quite a bit of complexity.

In general your assembly skills might best be put to reading and
adding comments to the existing x86 and x86_64 assembly files that
lack good comments. Someone who understands these files would be a
valuable person to have for reviewing changes in the future.

Please feel free to continue this discussion on libc-help@sourceware.org.

Cheers,
Carlos.
