glibc 2.8 release on gnu.org?

Hi,

I see in the mailing list archive from May that there was a thread
asking whether any of the glibc developers were going to prepare
release tarballs to put on gnu.org; the email thread eventually
petered out without anyone ever saying yes or no.

A couple of people also noted, in that thread, that the official glibc
web page at http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/ still shows the current
version as being 2.7 -- which is still the case today.

If the glibc developers are too busy or disinterested in keeping the
gnu.org site updated with current releases, that's fine with me; but I
think it would be nice if gnu.org /were/ updated with current
information, since I know that some people (like me) look at that page
for information on new releases.

I would therefore like to volunteer to become a maintainer of the
glibc web page at gnu.org, and to create and distribute release
tarballs. Is there any process by which I could get access to do these
things? Who do I need to talk to about this kind of thing?

Warm regards,

bn
