Hi Ulrich,

It's great to see a forthcoming glibc release but I'm a bit concerned
because we currently have 13 pending PowerPC patches.

http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2008-03/msg00027.html

Some of these have been awaiting inclusion since November and deal with
basic platform enablement (the 64-bit FPSCR patch necessary for full
Power6 functionality):

	- Re: [PATCH] PowerPC: Extend fpu fenv operations to
		operate on 64-bit FPSCR

A number of the patches fix all of the known powerpc make check failures
which we'd hate to move into the 2.8 release still hitting:

	- [PATCH][BZ 4997] Fix erroneous corner cases in PowerPC
		lround implementations
	- Re: [PATCH][BZ 4407] Fix lgamma sign bug for ldbl-128
	- [PATCH] PowerPC libm-test.inc expl(1000.0L) result
exceeds __LDBL_MAX__ for IBM Long Double 128.
	- [Redux][PATCH] check-localplt failure associated
with IBM long double 128 and PowerPC

There is one patch which is low-probability but high-impact that we'd
definitely like in the next release:

	- [PATCH][BZ #5741] fix segfaul in __libc_dlopen_mode

The remaining patches are for either performance improvements or
validity improvements.

Please consider these pending patches for inclusion prior to the 2.8
release.
