glibc 2.1.1 is quite stable and has only a few known bugs (see the
wwwgnats archive). It's much better than 2.0.7.
A number of advantages (not complete):
- support for Linux 2.2
- thread safe dynamic linker
- faster
- ISO C9x support
- Unix98 support
- ...
