The unsupported system calls are probably related to strace. But if strace is
not working, then GDB probably will not work, either, and there is no way to
debug this in the guest.
Can you reproduce this on actual MIPS hardware? I suspect this is just a
qemu-user emulation bug which newer glibc versions trigger because they use
different kernel features.
