Note that the correct behavior is to round based on the current rounding
direction. This can be done either by constructing a value to add and letting
the FPU do the rounding for you (but some of the corner cases with denormals
are difficult to handle) or by using a test expression or fegetround to
determine the current mode then just applying it.
