[Bug libc/5754] New: Kernel's CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO leads to segfaults

Hello there,

if you enable CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO in the kernel, glibc 2.7 is unable to build
itself/run. glibc just segfaults when it tries to run itself for the first
time. Tested with kernel 2.6.23.14.

I also tested a vanilla Fedora 8 system and enabled CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO, the
system immediately crashed when running "init". The latest glibc 2.7.90 from
Fedora HEAD crashes, too.

I've enabled this kernel option as I have some apps that still need to run
against a glibc-2.1.3-29 from Redhat 6.2. The documentation in the kernel
states the option is needed for glibc < 2.3.3. I disabled the option now and
the old apps seem to run just fine. How can I test if I really need the compat
mode?

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

PS: The latest glibc version in bugzilla's version selector is "2.4"...
