gdb simulator problem

Subject: gdb simulator problem

        Hi,
            I have compiled gdb for arm-elf cross platform.
            I have compiled a hello.c program with -g option

            I have set the target as "target sim"

            when I say run,  I am getting an error message
            'You can't do that without a process to debug"

            What could be the reason ?
