Hi Hackers,
It has been 3 months since the 0.165 release, so time for a new one.
There have been 30 patches since the last release, mostly bug fixes. The
only "user visible" change listed in the NEWS file is:
config: The default program prefix for the installed tools is now eu-.
Use configure --program-prefix="" to not use a program prefix.
Other issues include ppc32 and sparc32 build/testsuite fixes, better
support for non-linux (kfreebsd/hurd), build fixes for older glibc
without ELF compression types, a fix for over-adjusting alignment of
NOBITS sections, bug fixes for issues found by gcc6, recognize some Go
and ARM ELF notes, addition of new i386/x86_64 relocation types and
elfcompress -q would erroneously imply --force.
If you have any pending patches please post them ASAP. I would like to
do the formal 0.166 release end of this week.
