I guess the problems are due to the old but pertained TeX handling of
pictures. It was done that way:
You can draw the pictures using TeX macros itself, or You could just anchor a
foreign picture to some place, without attributes and the dvi??? program
included it into the output. They say, TeX source is not changed often, just
the addons are done in forms of macros.
As for the resulting PDF-s: the style (width or font size) for the code
snipsets and program outputs should be changed in the stylesheet to fit the
paper-width. That should reduce the number of pdfjadetex compaints about hbox
fitting errors.
