Is this using 2.0 or anoncvs? There have been a number of changes to
the synthetic target since the 2.0 release to make it cope better with
various gcc shenanigans.
I have just done some test builds with "gcc (GCC) 3.2.2 20030222 (Red
Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)" and with "gcc (GCC) 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401)" - no
problems. It should also work with 2.95.x, 2.96, and anything else
>= 3.2.1 (unless the recent 3.4 release has broken things again).
