Breakpoints affecting eCos

Subject: [ECOS] Breakpoints affecting eCos

Does a breakpoint affect eCos in some way?
I am running Redboot/eCos on a i386 target and debug it on a RedHat box via eth0. If I set a breakpoint in a certain file, the eCos hangs way before that breakpoint is reaced. If I remove the breakpoints in that file, eCos runs quite a bit longer (but then hangs, which (maybe) is another story).
Could this be some sort of timing problem?
