Over 5 years, the efficiency of emacs must beat the *'&% of out anything
else... even if only used for xml. 
 when its used for java, python text .....

OK, I guess I spent more than one hour fiddling with emacs.
But can jedit show you a calender view?
  Or provide a yard of motd?

I doubt it.
