With respect to conference scheduling, there seem to be no "good"
choices.
- Holding the meetings before or after a conference means traveling
earlier or staying longer, which can be problematic.
- Holding the meetings during the tutorials is problematic because
several committee members regularly give tutorials.
- Finally, holding the meetings during the conference is problematic
for precisely the reason you described.
Other options for the coming year are having the meetings entirely
separate from the conference, hosted by one or more of the member
organizations and using telcons for some or all of the meetings.
This will be on our agenda for our upcoming meetings. Suggestions
are welcome.
