DAVENPORT: BookInfo Contents attribute

I have been reading the Guide to the DocBook DTD, and I am confused
about a particular topic.

In the description for the BookInfo element, it states that:

"BookInfo has common attributes and a Contents attribute, the values of
which are the IDs of the ToC, LoTs, Prefaces, Parts, Chapters,
Appendixes, References, Glossary, Bibliography, and indexes comprising
the Book, in the order of their appearance."

Within the info on "Document Hierarchies" this is also repeated as:
"BookInfo has an optional Contents attribute, which points to a list of
the IDs of the major components making up the Book."

Where is this "list of IDs"? How does the Contents attribute point to
it? Can someone provide an example, please?

Thanks,
