I have a DocBook document containing the following fragment:
[...]
<para>
setting <envar>TZ</envar>
(<trademark>HP-UX</trademark> only)<footnoteref
linkend="hpuxprof">
<footnote id="hpuxprof">
<para>
The current <filename>dot_profile</filename>
only recognizes <trademark>HP-UX</trademark>
versions A 9.04 and A 9.05.
</para>
</footnote>
</para>
[...]
When rendering this document with any of the HTML or DVI backends, the
footnote labels are doubled in both cases. You'll get a doubled
superscript number with DVI and a doubled square-bracketed number with
HTML.
My DocBook configuration:
DocBook DTD: 3.0, Rel. 2
DocBook stylesheets: 1.24, Rel. 2
James Clark's DSSSL engine: 1.2.1, Rel. 1
jadetex: 2.3, rel. 1
SGMLtools core package: 2.0, Rel. 2
Tschüss
