There is a simplified DocBook DTD, which can be had as
a single DTD file. It is a cut down version of DocBook.
Go to this page and download the sdocbook.dtd file:

http://docbook.org/xml/simple/1.0/index.html

I've not used Word 2003 with XML yet, so I don't know
what Word will do with it.
