Then somehow the XSLT document() function is broken in
the version you are using.  The en.xml file is the
first external document file that the stylesheet
tries to open with document().  I can't
explain why it is failing for you.

What mail recommended libxml version 1?

I use the latest versions of libxslt/libxml2 and Saxon 6
on Linux.
