Hello,
i dont know whether this might solve the problem.

saxon has a facility for specifying your parser through
ParserManager.Properties.file. i specified xerces (ver.1.2.1) as my default
parser which will parse with the html/chunk.xsl file without the error Bob
Stayton mentioned but none of the IDs get resolved
i get these errors
no ID for constraint linkend : <the ID no>
for most of the IDs.
so moving xalan to outer-most wrapper may or may not solve the problem
this was an earlier bug of xalan which effected the docbook Xref
probably back again for IDs ;-(
BTW the same document gets perfectly parsed with no errors with xt
all IDs intact
also this bug is funny one since if i specify the earlier version of xerces
(ver1.2) in my editor it used to complain about DTD (docbook) now the xerces
version 1.2.1 doesn't do so. since the first sign with my editor is if there
is a problem with my document the tree view disappears even before the error
message crops up i get to know there is something amiss but with the version of
xerces the tree view is intact and it does get refreshed properly etc
<sigh> i can now understand Norman's problems, must be tough
out there
regards
