DocBook to pdf via TeX

My DocBook document is too big for TeX, so will not convert to pdf
using the db2pdf tool.

The following log happened when I used the db2pdf tool... I assume I'm
not alone in this (in fact, I know I'm not). So has anyone written a
howto to solve this problem? I have been told I could just use an
html-pdf converter, but that doesn't deal with pagenumbering and all
the other lovely things I need.

I include the entire log, but the bit I think is relevant is:

	(/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/misc/ustmry.fd)
	! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=348001].
	\newpage ...k \@nobreakfalse \everypar {}\fi \par
                                                  \vfil \penalty -\@M
	l.7556 ...e{}\endNode{}\endNode{}\endNode{}\endFOT
                                                  {}
	If you really absolutely need more capacity,
	you can ask a wizard to enlarge me.

The entire log is below...
