the catch was, that we're a unix house, and all the pathnames in the
rtf were unix paths, which didn't work too well in word..
i've since read the jade source and seen that the image data inlining
stuff requires ole, which doesn't exist on unix. the code is blocked
out with #ifdef WIN32
if i was really bored i could try linking against winelib and seeing
if i could get the right library functions that way..
