build gcc3.4.5 using crosstool-0.43

In order to support an old kerenl (2.6.9) I tried to build toolchain
using Dan Kegel's original crosstool.
The script I used is: demo-i686.sh

But the "boot" compiler used in the one installed on my Centosis : 4.1.2
Is it possible to build gcc-3.4.5 using the host's toolchain installed
by default (4.1.2) ?
