i recall trying to get an NPTL-based toolchain a while back using my
mini script and quickly learned it wasn't as easy as just setting
"--enable-add-ons" appropriately -- it required messing with "tls" and
"threads" options in other steps as well.

if anyone wants a copy of my script so they can mess with the options
at any of those steps, they're welcome to it.
