Nevermind, that patch is already integrated into stock glibc-2.3.2.

How 'bout this: maybe it's a problem with os/x's sed or awk.
Try installing the gnu versions.
It's a long, lame shot (really, we should be digging in and
understanding that awk script, etc.) but might be worth a try.
