brings if compared to the "easy as a pie"-method for novices:


First, your "easy as pie" recipe doesn't sound all that much easier.

Second, maintaining the ability to rebuild from pure sources is a critical capability for embedded developers using GNU tools. If you can't rebuild them, you can't tweak them to suit your needs.

Third, maintaining the ability to rebuild from pure sources is a critical capability for gcc, I think.
