Problems building a GCC PowerPC/Linux cross compiler from SPARC/Solaris

Hi All,
I am trying to follow the instruction:
http://gfs.lcse.umn.edu/~grant/Linux/cross.html
to build a GCC PowerPC/Linux cross compiler from
SPARC/Solaris, I can do from step 1 to step 5 with no
problems, but in step 6, after configuration, doing
gmake, stoped at:
powerpc-linux-gcc -DCROSS_COMPILE -DIN_GCC -DSVR4
-g -O2 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -o gencheck \
gencheck.o ` case "obstack.o" in ?*) echo obstack.o ;;
esac ` ` case "alloca.o" in ?*) echo alloca.o ;; esac
` ` case "" in ?*) echo ;; esac ` ` case "" in ?*)
echo ;; esac ` ` case "" in ?*) echo ;; esac `
./gencheck > tmp-check.h
./gencheck: syntax error at line 1: `(' unexpected
gmake[1]: *** [s-check] Error 2
gmake[1]: Leaving directory
`/home/local/build/gcc-2.95.3/gcc'
gmake: *** [all-gcc] Error 2

By checking file gencheck, it shows:
"gcc/gencheck: ELF 32-bit LSB executable 80386
Version 1, statically linked, not stripped"

So gencheck is a Linux executable file, that's why
can't execute "./gencheck > tmp-check.h" on Solaris
host.

I can move to a Linux host to execute "./gencheck >
tmp-check.h", then back to Solaris host to build, but
I don't want go back and forth 13 times (there are 13
of them, like gengenrtl, genattr, gencodes, ......) to
finish this building.

Anybody can help me?

Best Regards,

Junliang
