Query on gnu toolset

Hello there

We were debating a small issue. Should there be an effort to port
FreeBSD on MIPS architecture, what effort would be required to 
port the gnu toolset for the same ? Would this be a substantial
effort.

Secondly, could we use the cross compiler always to generate code
for MIPS architecture ??
