In Red Hat 7.1, the gcc 2.96 is broken. You have to install
compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2.i386.rpm
and compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.14.i386.rpm. And use kgcc as the compiler to
compile.

I think Red Hat 7.0 is the same situation.
