-fpic supported for SH-2?

Is position-independent code supported for the SH-2 in gcc 2.95.1?

When I diff an objdump --disassemble-all of two identical files, one
compiled with -fpic, and one without, the results are identical.

The assembly language doesn't look position-independent either... :^(
