Yes. Configure a recent snapshot for m68k-elf and all should be well.
Far more folks designing new systems are using ELF as the object format of
choice. It's a more descriptive format and as a result fewer folks have had
the need to extend it in incompatible ways.
You also get to ride on the backs of a much larger user/developer base to
help keep the tools solid. coff gets far less attention than ELF from a
development standpoint.
