problems making libg++-2.7.2

I'm trying to build libg++-2.7.2 on a sparc-sun-solaris2.4 host with the
target=i960-*-coff and am geting the following error:

make[1]: Leaving directory
`/projnfs/local.src/libg++-2.7.2/i960-*-coff/librx'
Configuring in i960-*-coff/libg++
*** cannot find config.sub.
make: *** [configure-target-libg++] Error 1

I've tried copying config.sub to EVERY subdirectory but that hasn't
helped. I've verified that Makefile contains the proper path to
condfig.sub

Any help will greatly appreciated.
