Hey Nick,
I think we're talking about two different patches here - I already got the "instruction word" patch that the link above contains.
The one that I was looking for (.ascii data), Nick said was fixed with a commit by Joseph Myers on 2009-03-05.


I incorrectly reported that this was fixed in a newer assembler that I already have.
