It looks like this point is overlooked.
And wrt. git, "cvs diff -rHEAD" for git, anyone?
With svn, just s/cvs/svn/.
Also not looking forward to moving around that much larger
checkout trees without anymore a well-defined way to cut them.
So, I'd prefer the multiple-repositories version of the story
rather than the always-huge-tree version with extra required
configure options. Maybe that requires a manual merge after
checkout, but I'd still prefer it. Is it really true that
git can't pull from different sources, to keep the current
repository hierarchy?
