How do you get these crashes?  I've built an entire powerpc biarch
toolchain, binutils+gcc+glibc+gdb, mainline cvs for everything except
gcc which was 4.1 branch cvs.  No assertions noticed.  Perhaps you are
hitting a compiler bug?
