Uh, why? After all, I think, it's just some relocation work and
setting up a bunch of tables.

If the source code of both is readily available, I don't think I
should be hindered to do it. Unix gives you the rope to shoot
yourself into the foot ;)

Besides, "free software" as in GPL interpreted by the FSF, does
not make a distinction between dynamic and static linkage for
the "gimme all your source" requirement.
