The project I'm seeing this with is brickos (brickos.sf.net).

I'm unsure whether its possible to make a testcase since the problem only
appears when trying to link an addon program using a linker script,
generated from the previously compiled and linked kernel.

It might be that the only thing for me to do is to mess around with gcc to
see if I can get some more info.
