Missing LD for AIX4.3.3 on RS6000

I've just compiled binutils 2.11.2 on AIX4.3. I didn't notice any errors and it seem to finish OK. However upon checking the bin directory in the install area there was no ld. OTher items such as as and ar were present.

Does anyone have any ideas?
