mips wince binutils

I'm trying to build the binutils for MIPS wince.
I used, from the top level, using the latest binutils:
./configure mips-idt-pe
make
it has linking errors for symbols like bfd_pei.....
before i hack the make files, am i doing something wrong here?
also, for what i'm working on i'll probably need to use the microsoft wince
linker. will modules produced by this gas be compatable?
